What You Will Do:
As a Welding Specialist High School Intern, you will help set up, operate and adjust manual and/or automatic machines to perform fabrication operations such as arc welding, automatic welding, electron beam welding, hand brazing, etc.
Candidates will also have the opportunity to learn and help with the Manufacturing Process by developing work instructions and support factory layout changes.
This position will start in the summer of 2024 with the expectations of working full time (40 hours per week) during the summer and will have the opportunity to work part time (10 to 20 hours per week) during the school year.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Orientation program/trainingJob shadowing operators to get a better understanding of fabrication in manufacturing.
Help identify quality defects and follow the Built in Quality process to find the root cause of the issue.
Understand work instructions and control plans to better support manufacturing process changes.
Networking and social opportunitiesWhat You Have (Basic Qualifications):
Candidate must currently be enrolled in High School going into their Junior or Senior year of school or will be graduating from High School at the end of this current school year.
Must be 16 years of age.
Must be willing and able to complete daily work commute to the Pontiac facility using reliable transportation.
Good communication skills and strong commitment to safety and teamworkWhat Will Put You Ahead (Preferred Qualifications):
Ability to perform simple computer operations (Microsoft Office)Awareness of Sort, Set, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain (5S), Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), safety, and quality.
Additional Information:
This position is only for High School Students as part of Caterpillar Pontiac's Student Internship ProgramThis position will be in-person located at Caterpillar's Pontiac, IL facility.
Relocation is NOT available.
